System of Support for the Promotion of Azorean Products

The system of support for the promotion of Azorean products aims to support:

  • the sales of Azorean products;
  • The conception and execution of labels and packaging;
  • The participation of regional products in events of a promotional character;
  • The holding of campaigns and promotional events.

 

Applicable legislation

Order no. 72/2010 of 30 July

Elegible products

All products originating in the Autonomous Region of the Azores are eligible, indicated in Appendix 1 of the said order.

Beneficiaries

All economic operators that satisfy all of the access conditions can apply to this support system.

Access Conditions

 

  • Be legally constituted at the date of presentation of the application;
  • Fulfil the legal conditions necessary to carry out its activity, namely in terms of licensing;
  • Have no outstanding debts to the Tax Authorities or Social Security;
  • Be considered an SME, for the applications to supports involving the execution of labels and packaging, participation in fairs and expositions and the holding of promotional campaigns.

 

Eligible expenses

 

  • Sales of regional products
    • Transport expenses of regional products from the islands of Santa Maria, Graciosa, São Jorge, Flores and Corvo to the remaining islands of the archipelago and from all the islands to outside of the Azores.
  • Conception and execution of labels and packaging abroad 
    • Conception and execution of labels and packaging for commercialisation of products abroad
  • Participation in fairs, expositions and other events of a promotional character abroad 
    • Registration in the fair or exposition;
    • Assembly of the stand;
    • Transport of products for exposition;
    • Air travel tickets, up to a maximum of two people per company and per event;
    • Stay, up to a maximum of two people per company, during the period in which the event is being held.
  • Holding of campaigns and promotional events abroad 
    • Newspapers or other publications, radio, television or other media;
    • Elaboration of videos, pamphlets, posters and other type of promotional material.

 

Application process instructions

The Application Forms may be obtained electronically, from the Regional Investment and Competitiveness Support Office or from the Island Offices of the Regional Department of Economic Affairs, and the following documents must be included, depending on the case:

  • Sales of regional products 
    • Invoice of sale of goods and bank document proving receipt of the amounts invoiced to the client;
    • Original invoice and receipt of the transport company or copy of the bank document proving payment of the transport costs;
    • Bill of lading or airway bill and declaration of international shipping, when applicable;
    • Certificate of origin and health issued by the competent regional authorities, when applicable;
    • Single Customs Document (SCD), when applicable;
    • Cargo manifest with identification of the products object of sup and respective quantities, weight or volume, when applicable;
  • Conception and execution of labels and packaging abroad 
    • Original invoice and receipt or copy of the bank document proving payment of expenses;
    • Copy of the label and/or package;
  • Participation in fairs, expositions and other events o a promotional character abroad 
    • Document proving registration in the event;
    • Copy of the air travel tickets and boarding pass;
    • Original invoice and receipt or copy of the bank document proving payment of expenses.
  • Holding of promotional campaigns or events abroad 
    • Copy of the magazine, newspaper, publication, poster, pamphlet or other promotional material;
    • Original invoice and receipt or copy of the bank document proving payment of expenses

 

Granting of support

The support takes the form of an outright grant by means of the co-funding of the elegible expenses, base on the following applicable rates:

  1. 90% for the operators established on the islands of Santa Maria, Graciosa, São Jorge, Flores and Corvo;
  2. 75% for the operators established on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Pico, whose activity involves the commercialisation of fruit, flowers and ornamental plants;
  3. 50% for the operators established on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Pico, whose activity involves the commercialisation of the remaining products.
The amount of the financial supports to be granted per operator may not exceed the following amounts:
  1. 200,000.00 € for operators established on the islands of Santa Maria, Graciosa, São Jorge, Flores and Corvo, for a three-year period;
  2. 100,000.00 € for the co-operatives headquartered on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Pico and Faial, per year;
  3. 50,000.00 Euros for the remaining operators established on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Pico and Faial, per year.
